Retro Display Lab is a one-person business in Australia that makes Display Builder, a tool for designing 3D-printable display stands. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions go to hello@retrodisplaylab.com.
What we collect
- Waitlist. If you join the early-access waitlist: your email address, the date, which version of the home page you joined from, and whether we have invited you. Your address is stored only in our waitlist database. It is not sent to analytics, notification tools or anyone else; the only time it leaves the database is when we email you, through our email provider.
- Accounts. Early access is invite-only. When an invited tester signs in with Google, we receive their name, email address and Google account identifier. We then store the designs and settings they save, and a record of the files they export.
- Usage analytics. We use PostHog to see how the site is used: pages viewed, buttons clicked, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location worked out from the IP address. For signed-in testers, events carry a random ID, never your name or email address. Only our own database can connect that ID to your account. We never send email addresses or names to analytics, and anything that looks like an email address is removed before an event is sent.
- Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can reply.
The site stores a few items in your browser: your sign-in session, your theme and builder settings, and an analytics identifier. It does not use advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To email you about early access: an invite if you are picked, or the pricing when early access ends.
- To run your account.
- To understand which parts of the site work, so we can improve them.
- To find and fix problems.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Where it's stored
We use these services to run the site. Some of them store data outside Australia, including in the United States.
- Supabase (Sydney): sign-in, accounts, saved designs, export records and the waitlist.
- PostHog (United States): usage analytics.
- Vercel: hosting the site.
- Google: the "Continue with Google" sign-in.
- Amazon Web Services (Sydney): sending email.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist entries, including ones we don't invite, until early access ends and we have emailed the pricing, or until you ask us to remove yours. We keep account data while the account exists. When an account is deleted, the connection between its analytics ID and the account is deleted with it, so the analytics we keep no longer identify anyone. We keep analytics data for up to 1 year.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing hello@retrodisplaylab.com. We'll reply within 30 days. You can also block analytics with a browser extension; the site keeps working.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
